Introducing Europe to composite maintenance from Brabant

assignment_

The fieldlab Development Center for Maintenance of Composites (DCMC) shares knowledge and expertise in repair and maintenance of composites and hybrid structures. This client from Brabant has a mission. Its ambition is to set up the largest and most important centre for maintenance and repair of composites in Europe. It is up to Voxx to ensure that this important ecosystem is presented nationally and internationally.

Voxx has been working for the DCMC. Our task is to provide a new corporate identity and logo, the website (English), all content and set up the social media channels and maintenance of information. The Development Centre for Maintenance of Composites combines innovative SMEs with the knowledge of future OEMs.

One aim is to attract new players to the cluster to develop a globally distinctive competitive position. Therefore, Voxx is not only aiming its sights at national press and publicity. We also put the field lab forward internationally through white papers, webinars and events.

European field lab with international allure

logo design & style

The Development Centre for Maintenance of Composites needs a clear own style and logo. Based on the old base, we develop for a fresh new and contemporary look and feel that fits the story. Design and feel belong to this high-tech field lab for aerospace, specialising in composites. Not an easy task but one that poses a nice challenge for our design department.

Maintenance of composite global business

Composite is a specific type of plastic used in all kinds of high-tech industries. This is because it is extremely strong, ultra-light and hardly shows any corrosion. That is why it is widely used in F1 (Max Verstappen, indeed), boats, aircraft and satellites. Anything that is difficult to maintain or needs to be really light. Think also of bridges, for example.

Does it never break down then? Yes, unfortunately it does. Composite can also crack. For example, in the blades of wind turbines or helicopters. Because these blades make a lot of rotations, hairline cracks also appear in this plastic material after millions of revolutions. Experimentation and testing are therefore necessary. The DCMC provides the environment to improve composite maintenance. This saves costs (composite parts are expensive) and extends the lifespan, allowing investments in new bridges or helicopters to be postponed for a while.

Europe considers it important to invest in this. The ERDF supports the Development Centre for Maintenance of Composites Therefore. The Netherlands leads the way in knowledge about composites. To ensure that we are also (better) on the map worldwide. it is important to let the world know that we are working on this. Typically Dutch, this happens in an ecosystem structure. Various parties are working together, such as the NLR, Specto, NAG, the BOM, REWIN and GKN Fokker. The field lab is also supported by the province of North Brabant and OPZuid (the European Innovation Programme for the Southern Netherlands).

With targeted and thematic topics, we therefore provide varied content. We share these through various channels. Due to the high-tech nature of the topic for the Development Centre for Maintenance of Composites we work with senior copywriters who also understand what it is all about. We also advise on webinars and plan and create content. Of course, we do the same in high tech English.
